IEEE Names Abrams to Key Committee Post
The IEEE Reliability Society has appointed Scott B. Abrams to be the 2007 committee representative for the IEEE-USA and the Committee on Transportation and Aerospace Policy.
All committee members will report on and coordinate relevant activities of the Technology Policy Activities (TPA) committee with their societies, which includes obtaining society inputs on TPA draft position papers, testimony, and other documents in a timely manner.
The range of TPA committee activities includes the development of technology policy position papers, organizing policy forums and workshops, testimony before Congress, providing commentary on agency regulations, conducting press conferences, etc. The development of timely and accurate technology policy positions, in particular, depends upon the expertise of all IEEE-USA member who serves on one of its committees.
The goal of the committee is to provide technical advice to US government policymakers, analyze and interpret new technologies and policies, and promote policies that enhance US economic security and competitiveness.
