LONG ISLAND ENGINEERING FIRM SEES
ITS GROWTH
AS PROOF OF THE REGION’S ECONOMIC RECOVERY
Hauppauge, NY –May 27, 2004– One of the
best examples of the economic recovery on Long Island is The Omnicon
Group Inc., a specialized engineering firm which recorded a 100%
increase in new sales during the first quarter of 2004 as compared
to first quarter of 2003.
According to company president Scott B. Abrams, Omnicon posted more
than $4 million in new business during the first quarter, with almost
half of that amount generated by Long Island companies.
"I believe we’ve definitely turned the corner on Long
Island, certainly in the technology and engineering sectors,"
Abrams said. He added that Omnicon, which develops software and
performs sophisticated services including reliability, maintainability
and safety engineering, has written new business in a number of
industry sectors, including defense, communications, aviation, fire
safety and others. Omnicon’s business approach continues to
concentrate on opportunities that enable us to develop our core
business. As a result of this business growth, Omnicon is expected
to increase their workforce by more than 50% during the next 12-month
period.
Some of the Long Island companies that signed new contracts in 2004
with Omnicon include Parker Aerospace, Telephonics, Firecom, BAE
Systems and Symbol Technologies. Additional new business was generated
by BF Goodrich, Avaya, Hamilton Sundstrand and Parker California.
