NEW OMNICON ANALYSIS IS HONORED
The Omnicon Group recently was honored for introducing a new design and analysis
tool that could help avert spacecraft, aircraft and other disasters that
claim hundreds of lives every year.
In a recent ceremony, Omnicon was a finalist in the "LISA" competition
sponsored by the 500-member Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet).
LISA is short for Long Island Software Award and is one of the local industry’s
most coveted citations.
This analysis, called the Bent Pin and Shorted/Open Wire Utility, automatically
identifies failure modes, causes and descriptions associated with electrical
connector and harness signals. If performed by manufacturers at all, this intricate
procedure usually takes weeks or months to be completed manually; the Omnicon
system produces results in a small fraction of that time. Plus, the possibility
of human error in this tedious manual operation is virtually eliminated.
Though best employed at a system’s design stage, this automated analysis
also can be used with functioning components to spot possible failure points
or, following a failure, to indicate probable causes.
The Omnicon Group serves its customers from its headquarters in New York. The
company has won numerous industry and business awards, and for three straight
years was named to the Deloitte & Touche "Technology Fast 50" list
of the region’s fastest growing technology companies.
In addition, Omnicon recently established new engineering operations in Canada
and continental Europe to meet the growing demand for international engineering
services. This expansion is a response to continuing requests from companies
to develop systems and equipment which perform more reliably and safer, with
longer operating life.
Since 1984, The Omnicon Group has provided specialized engineering services,
including Reliability, Maintainability and Safety Engineering; Special Test
Equipment; and Software Development to a wide range of industries.
