Modify and standardize engineering and project management processes

HBM Prenscia Solutions engineering team modified and standardized the processes of developing multiple programs for airworthiness certification. These processes allowed the client to move forward with the program worth over $15 million and reduced the workload and project schedule to save money and meet and exceed deadlines.

The Challenge

The client won multiple new development programs but did not have the internal expertise to run the airworthiness certifications needed to meet the multiple military and industrial standards. There were no requirement baselines and outdated specifications, plus most of the changes to these specifications were communicated either verbally of via email, leaving engineers with unclear directions.

The Solution

Prenscia Solutions modified and standardized the engineering and project management processes for airworthiness certifications. We chaired a change-control board to ensure all work being done was necessary and correct. We developed a common test strategy compliant with multiple rigorous MIL testing standards and new requirements schema’s. We performed systems engineering to populate and trace requirements to customer documents and identified and resolved gaps, establishing a clear baseline.

The Results

Our client will begin production for the program, worth over $15 million. They received payments for the DO-254 applications and payment for the programs milestone achievement. These adjustments also reduced the workload on their engineering team by 20%, and, the client was able to save two months in their project schedules.
